Modified Pilates was developed from traditional Pilates by the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). The traditional Pilates exercises have been adapted into an exercise format more suitable for people who are recovering from injury, undergoing rehabilitation, who are not used to doing regular exercise or as an introduction to Pilates. This Pilates programme is effective at reducing pain, improving physical function and movement, and promoting wellbeing. It can often be a very useful precursor to the more traditional Pilates exercises and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
