PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Andrea Carnero Charles BSc (Hons), MSc, MCSP, HCPC, RAMP, ACPAT (Cat A)
Andrea graduated in 2019 from the University of the West of England with a first-class BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and was awarded the Physiotherapy Faculty Prize for a high level of academic achievement and making a positive contribution to the profession.
In 2023, she graduated with a Distinction in a Masters degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy from Hartpury University, alongside being awarded the ACPAT Prize for the graduate who had shown dedication to their work. These qualifications allow her to offer physiotherapy services to both human and animal clients.
Andrea has worked within the NHS since 2019 gaining a wealth of experience on acute wards, orthopaedics, elderly and general rehabilitation, complex rehabilitation and discharge planning and stroke therapy.
Andrea has a special interest in neurological conditions, in particular stroke and Parkinson’s. Alongside her private work she continues to work part-time within the NHS as a band 6 physiotherapist within the stroke and complex rehabilitation team at the Swindon Intermediate Care Centre, Great Western Hospital, working on both the wards and out in the community.
Alongside this, Andrea has provided private physiotherapy services as part of the team at Highworth Physiotherapy Clinic, since 2020, gaining experience treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions. Following the closure of the clinic due to retirement of the owners, she continues to provide sessions within the Faringdon Wellbeing Clinic and at the Halo Highworth Recreation Centre, treating a variety of conditions. To further develop her physiotherapy skills, Andrea has also completed a Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage.
In addition, she provides home visits for elderly and less mobile clients who struggle to access physiotherapy services. This can be within your own home or a care home environment. Common reasons for home visits include reduced mobility, falls, neurological conditions, arthritis, following surgery or joint replacements.
Andrea is a registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Alongside seeing clients on an individual basis, Andrea works as part of a team of physiotherapists which provide hydrotherapy sessions to the National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society Swindon group (NASS).
In between treating human clients, she is off treating horses and dogs and loves the variety that this offers. As a member of The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT) and Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners (RAMP) you can be assured a gold-standard service for your animal companions.
In her spare time, she enjoys riding and competing her two horses, spending time with her family and volunteering for the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).
