Recovering from an injury or surgery?

How does scar threatment help?

RESTORE scar threatment can help stimulate your scar and the underlying tissue. Treatment can help reduce symptoms related to your surgery or injury, for example:

  • pain, sensitivity or numbness
  • limited movement or tightness
  • pulling or puckering
  • fibrous scar tissue or scar adhesions

Using specialist scar massage and fascial techniques, at the right pace and pressure to suit you, and providing self-care advice for caring for your scar at home.

Ideally book a RESTORE therapy appointment in the first 6-12 months after an injury or surgery (even if you are not experiencing any unwanted complications).

Treatment is effective in older scars too, it’s never too late to benefit from scar treatment.

What is scar therapy?

Scar tissue is less functional

As your body heals after an injury, scar tissue forms. Scar tissue is fibrotic and less mobile then pre-injury. Adhesions may form, sticking together layers under the skin.

How can scar therapy help?

  • Stimulate change to scar tissue on the skin surface, and to adhesions or fibrosis in the underlying tissue.
  • Reduce common symptoms, such as pain and sensitivity.
  • Promote functional and cosmetic improvements after surgery or injury creates scar tissue.

Will my scar vanish?

No, we can’t make your scar tissue disappear. Results vary, and early treatment is recommended for best cosmetic improvements. It’s never too late and old scars can benefit as well.
