Welcome New Clinic Practitioner – Carrie Baker

We all welcome Carrie to the Faringdon Wellbeing Clinic who starts with us in early February as a new practitioner.  Carrie provides Reflexology and Reiki services which we currently don’t offer in the Clinic. We spoke to Carrie for an introduction question and answer session, so we could all get to know her, with the details below:

Tell us a little about yourself Carrie?

  • I have been married to Mike for over 30 years, and we have 2 children in their 20’s. I also have 2 cats and 1 dog, so we are a busy household.
  • I worked in the corporate sector for over 30 years before retraining and working my own business alongside full time work.  I was fortunate enough to be able to take my business full time last year when redundancy was offered.  I now work from my own home in Swindon 6 days a week as well as the stunning clinic here in Faringdon.  I understand the stresses and pressure of working in the corporate world, which helps me to support my clients.

What services can clinic patients book and what do these help with?

  • I am offering Reiki and various Reflexology options, including facial, hands, menopause support, non surgical facelift, Gua sha tool training and lymphatic drainage.

What is Reiki?

  • Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that supports the body and promotes healing. I place my hands on your head and torso (you stay fully clothed) and the energy is exchanged, negative energy is taken out of the body and positive healing energy is put into the body, leaving you feeling more relaxed and often pain free, or reduced pain.
  • The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”
  • A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.  Reiki works alongside Western Medicine and is beneficial for those from 0-100.

What is Reflexology?

  • Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary health therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing; reducing stress in people’s lives can be key in optimising good health and building resilience.  It is a touch therapy that is based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body and reflexologists work these points and areas.
  • I have further trained in Reflexology to enable me to support with menopause, lymphatic drainage and non surgical face lifts (for fighting life lines naturally).
  • However reflexology is viewed, there can be no doubt that what it does provide is a period of time for relaxation where the client has one to one attention and supportive touch in an empathetic listening environment. Reflexology can be used safely alongside standard healthcare to promote better health for their clients.
  • I am always happy to discuss options with people and offer one off trial sessions for lymphatic drainage and non surgical face lifts, as I appreciate people don’t want to commit to a number of weeks unless they are happy.  I offer 1:1 training with Gua sha tools and the option to try them before purchasing them, this enables you to work on your lifelines (wrinkles) at home and just a few minutes a day can make a difference.

When are you at the clinic?

  • Wednesday mornings from 9:30 – 12:30

How can your services be booked?

How many sessions of reiki or reflexology would you recommend?

  • The results are cumulative, so once a week for a few weeks will give quicker results than once a month.  I will never pressure you into booking more frequently than you are comfortable with.  I have an open door policy and will welcome you whether it is once a week or once a month.  You know your own body and how you feel.
  • The only exceptions to this are on a course of treatments, for example the menopause support is a 10 session course which then goes to monthly sessions.  This is to ensure that we get your body in balance and can then be maintained.
