BSc (Hons) Sports Science and Sports Therapy Degree and Post Grad in Sports performance nutrition

Kat Buckland qualified with a Degree in sports and exercise science, as well as gaining a first class degree in sports therapy and Post Graduate qualification in Sports performance nutrition. Kat is currently studying to be a strength and conditioning coach. Within nutrition Kat has special interest in neurodegenerative disease and women’s health within performance.

Kat offers the following services including:

1. Injury assessment & diagnosis
  • Assess muscle, joint, ligament, and tendon injuries
  • Identify causes of pain, movement dysfunction, or poor biomechanics
  • Evaluate posture, gait, flexibility, strength, and range of motion
2. Injury treatment
  • Treat acute and chronic injuries such as sprains, strains, tendinopathy, and overuse injuries
  • Use hands-on techniques like:
    • Soft tissue massage
    • Myofascial release
    • Joint mobilisations
  • Apply modalities such as taping, strapping, ice/heat, and sometimes electrotherapy (depending on training)
3. Rehabilitation & recovery
  • Design individualised rehab programs after injury or surgery
  • Guide progressive strengthening, mobility, and stability exercises
  • Help patients safely return to sport, work, or daily activities
4. Injury prevention
  • Identify risk factors for injury
  • Create warm-up routines and conditioning plans
  • Advise on load management, recovery strategies, and movement efficiency
5. Performance support
  • Improve strength, power, flexibility, and movement patterns
  • Assist with sport-specific conditioning
  • Support athletes during training and competitions
6. Education & advice
  • Teach proper exercise technique
  • Advise on posture, ergonomics, footwear, and training habits
  • Help manage recurring injuries and long-term conditions

Outside of work as a sports and massage therapist, Kat plays hockey for the Wales’ Woman’s Team and is a dressage rider and trainer.
