Q: Can children have these made?

Can children have these made? Sometimes children suffer from ear infections when they swim or get their ears wet. Some ENT/Audiology professionals recommend for swim plugs to be made to reduce the risk of infection so your child can swim or if their ear drum is perforated (they have a hole in the ear drum). Our staff are trained to take moulds for children aged 5 years and up. Any younger, we would recommend you seeking advice from your GP and onward referral to ENT for a medical opinion.

Q: What will happen if I choose to have plugs made?

What will happen if I choose to have plugs made? An appointment will be booked with the Audiology team. In the appointment, the Audiologist will check your ears for wax as this may affect how the plug is made. The Audiologist will put a stop in your ear to protect your ear drum. They will place some putty in your ears which will harden over 5 minutes. Your ear will feel blocked during this time but it does not hurt. They will remove the plug and send it off to snugs in Exeter. You have the choice of having it posted direct from Snugs or having a fitting appointment with the team at Faringdon Wellbeing Clinic.

SNUGS – Custom Fit Earplugs for Sleep and Swimming

SNUGS earplugs are custom fit earplugs made especially for you and are now available in the Faringdon Wellbeing Clinic through our Audiologist Ellie

The earplugs are made for you to fit your ears specifically based on impressions created and sent to SNUGS so they are made to fit your ears.

The process involves an initial SNUGS Earplug appointment where casts are taken and your requirements discussed. Then out Audiologist will order your custom fit SNUGS earplugs and these will then be dispatched directly to you.

SNUGS provide many different ear plugs for all usage types, however initially our focus is on SNUGS for improved sleep and for swimming purposes.
