Chiropody
includes treatment for corns, calluses,
cracked heels, thickened nails, fungal infections of skin or toenails,
verrucas, ingrown toenails and toenail trimming.
A
typical visit will include recording medical
details, assessment of the feet,
diagnosis of any
problem and discussion about treatment with advice on how to maintain
healthy feet.
Products
are available to compliment foot care.

Training
Chiropody
training includes study of the anatomy
of the foot and the lower limb, and how the structures that form the
foot, provide a stable and supportive structure enabling balance and
propulsion of the body. Study also includes the development of problems
within the foot resulting from ‘wear and tear’,
injury or disease.
The
Health Professions Council are the regulatory
body who set the standards of safe and effective practice for health
professionals.
Simeon Yardley
Simeon completed his
training in podiatry at Southampton University, gaining a first class
BSc honours degree with distinction (final clinical exam) and
pathophysiology poster award at the ARC/NHS conference, Basingstoke.
NHS clinical training was undertaken on placements with Southampton
City, Portsmouth City and Isle of Wight NHS Trusts, in hospital and
community settings.
In addition to his work with Appleton Podiatry, Simeon holds a
specialist community podiatrist post with Oxford Health NHS Foundation
Trust, working with high-risk patients in wound care, biomechanics and
nail surgery clinics. Continuing professional development forms
an integral part of this role, allowing Simeon to complete training
courses, clinical audit and reflective practice activities that
continually improve his clinical knowledge and skills.
Simeon also has a keen interest in the application of technology to
medical fields and has gained a first class BSc honours degree in
industrail design and was awarded the Student Design Award for medical
products from the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts,
Manufactures and Commerce(RSA).
Registered podiatrist (HPC Reg: CH31691) with the Health Professions
Council< memeber of The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.
